Random Art...

My husband and I met at the company that he is still working at and that I had quit earlier this year.  It's a biotech/pharmaceutical and that means it's a place filled with left-brained machinations.  Husband, is a scientist by training with a business degree.  How "down to business" can one person be?  But that doesn't mean that he doesn't have artistic ideas bursting out of him.  He recently completed a series of "personality" test that his new boss administered to his leadership team (pretty cool, don't you think?) and the conclusion is that he needs to embrace his right brain, more.  We've talked about finding a project for him to get into and a couple of weeks ago, he decided to give clay modeling and wood-working a try.  Genius!  I've never seen him so engaged and focused on a project, that's hands-on, personal and free-form, ever.  He loves it and I'm SO proud of him!

Wonderland SF!

So, the week has wrapped up pretty nicely.  Yesterday, a friend of mine hosted a trunk show at her house for my jewelry.  Later in the day, I went to check out a much-talked about, new boutique/gallery in the Mission District in San Francisco.  I walked into the gallery and was immediately complimented on the piece of jewelry I was wearing.  One thing led to another and two hours later, I left the gallery, leaving behind 20 pieces of jewelry for the shop to sell!!  Yay!

Here's the one that started it all:

And here's are a few snapshots of the new boutique!

Wonderland Gallery : 2929 24th Street, San Francisco, CA 94110

Irene, the mastermind behind the gallery (of over 200 local artists), is throwing a holiday bash tonight.  For those of you in the area, DO check it out, if you can fit it into your already-hectic schedule!

Love Me, Love My Jewelry.

Feeling a little lonely, in cyber-world and my little business world.  Having your own business is a lot harder than I bargained for, today.  I'm not complaining - there are no regrets for going down this path.  Every moment I work on a design or a jewelry order, I am thanking my husband and my lucky stars.  I'm starting to realize the huge, emotional component that comes along with an arts-based business and the tug-of-war between wanting to "make it big" and remaining true to your interests and instincts.  Lots of ideas and thoughts churning in what my husband likes to call - my "giant cabeza" (head).

Am I planning on making a million dollars?  No.  That number (is huge and sounds fun), has no real meaning in what I am doing right now.  But I would love to start having a "regular" paycheck again and feel like I'm contributing to my household, financially.

I'd also love to walk down the street and see more women wearing my pieces.  I love seeing something that I've made, resting on someone's neck.  Gives me a warm and cheery feeling.

So here are a few, newer pieces for you to love, people.  Enjoy them - I'll be growing a collection around them for 2011!
