Elk, California

18 miles south of Mendocino, Elk is a teeny-tiny town with some of the most beautiful coastline I've ever seen in person.  The weather was fantastic and the town was barely humming, despite being a three-day weekend.

Time to Coast

Been super-crazy-crazy and busy with the grand opening of my Etsy shop.  It was quite a feat to get it up and now I realize - there is still a ton, I mean, a TON more to do.  But that's the thing about doing your own thing - there's always more to be done.  I'm happy with what I've done.  But I want more.  More is needed.  Argh!

But I think a little break is deserved.  Time to coast. .. . .

It really is hot, in San Francisco.  The news is reporting a temperature of 102.  In San Francisco.  Really?  After endless days of fog and heater-necessitating coldness?

Hammering Along

Today, I hammered my finger on my new anvil.  Ouch.  The first official week of Hsu-Lee Designs, I sprained my ankle.

No worries.  This isn't a sign.  It's just because I'm ridiculously clumsy.  The boy and I have been talking about getting a Vespa to scoot around the city on.  But he's adamant about me not riding on one by myself. That's going to be another future discussion.

Today has been good, though!  Got a nice, hot pickle going and did some post-firing cleaning.  Getting ready for a little rough-and-tumble tonight, once I get enough pieces to load the tumbler.  Lots of stuff coming along and being productive makes me happy and happy!

Going in Circles

This is my third official week as a full-time artist/jeweler.  It's not quite gone as I'd imagined it, but then again, I wasn't quite sure what to expect in the first place anyway.

I think, it doesn't feel like it has gone off with a huge *bang* and I need to be okay with that.  I've been pretty busy- developing a line for a gallery that I am hoping to sell at, here in San Francisco.  I've been dealing with some doubt and concerns, second-guessing my ideas and work.  That's something I need to address as I continue down this path of the arts.

So, while my mind is going in circles around some various issues, my hands are still keeping busy and I'm putting some of that mind-energy into good use.  I'm hoping to wrap up my sample collection by the end of this week and then get an appointment with the buyer at said gallery.  Keep your fingers crossed- mine are too busy, making pieces right now!
