Holiday Eclectic

This will be our first holiday in the new place.  I don't think I've mentioned enough, how much I love this place we're living in.  It FEELS LIKE HOME.

I've got it in my head, that I want to decorate the house for Christmas.  Problem is, that I have so many ideas and themes - how can I pick just ONE?  I don't want to subject the hubby to a vomit of holiday spirits - just a tasteful and cheerful sprinkling of it.  So, what does that leave me with?  How to pick?  Colors, cute, elegant, exotic, country, craftsy, organic, mod, aaahhhh!

I gave myself 5 minutes to do a random search online and to pick seven six things that caught my eye....

Monday Wind-Down

A gorgeous day has come to a close.  Busy day to kick off a busy week - doctor's appointment, store-hunting, catching up on emails, watching the SF Giants win the World Series.

Tasks for this week include: getting a booth designed for the Thread Show, make jewelry for the Thread Show, find more stores to sell my jewelry in, dinners to shop for and cook, gardening to be done, paperwork, paperwork and paperwork.

Sometimes I would much prefer to be chillin' like this kitty...  Meow!

Display at Saffron

This week, I brought over a load of new goodies for the Saffron store - a bundle of sparkly bangles and cuff bracelets.

I also remembered to bring my camera, to snap a couple of quick pics of my jewelry that's on display there.  Good times!

I got my rejection email from Renegade last night.

But I just got my confirmation for Thread!!!

This will be my very first, official show.

Right down the street from where I live, is a fabulous little coffee shop, tucked into a corner of a busy, little laundromat.  Entrepreneur and coffee-cow-girl Maricar, decided to follow her passion and her nose.  She opened up her own business and procured rights to feature a very popular San Francisco coffee - Blue Bottle.

I'm lucky to get to join her and a small group of talented artists, to bring together a neighborhood sidewalk event: Spin City Coffee - Sip & Shop Saturday.  There will be an eclectic mix of art, eco-friendly household goodies and of course, my jewelry!  Maricar will also be holding a drip bar - a sampling of various Blue Bottle coffees for people to try.  Line wine tasting- but of the caffeinated varietal!

Hope those of you who are in the area will get a chance to come check it out!  It will be on Saturday, October 30th, at the corner of Sanchez Street and 26th Street, in the Noe Valley neighborhood.

Loot!

A couple of weeks ago, I went to Clay Creation's open house and purchased a few items from artist Linda Fahey.  Here is the fabulous loot!

She's been doing a lot of 'shippery' themed work lately, as you can tell in her awesome cups and the platter.

In my kitchen, I have the standard, mass produced stuff for everyday use - the plates and bowls, etc.  But I've decided that I want the COOL stuff and I want to use it when I want to.  It's like your mother reserving the fine china set for special occasions...  Every time I drink out of a cool cup or use a fabulous platter or bowl, it makes me feel special and happy.  So why not?  I will use them like every occasion is a special occasion!

Out Cold

It's been a miserable several days with the flu.  The virus is tenacious and its taken me into week two...

Or two?  I love these funny-looking creatures.  If I had a little farm-a-thing-thing, I would totally get a couple.  And some goats.  And definitely a coop-full of chickens.

Hard Work = Little Goodies

I've been making some new items so that I can get my Etsy Shop stocked.  Also making some pieces to show at an upcoming neighborhood sidewalk sale that I will be at with a couple of other artists.  It's hard to stay focused and busy, especially with San Francisco cramming in the lost summer in the course of a couple of days.

Saffron Rare Threads

Hi folks!  I'm excited to announce that my Hsu-Lee Designs jewelry is now being sold at Saffron Rare Threads, at the Embarcadero Center in San Francisco!

This is my second retail location and I'm pushing to expand in San Francisco and then beyond.  Needless to say, I was both excited and nervous when I brought in the goods for my first meeting with Kelly (the store manager) and Priya (owner and designer of SRT).  They were the sweetest ladies and I felt like my work was really admired and welcomed in their lovely boutique.

So, for those of you who are ever in the area, check out the new location - both the amazing clothing and my amazing jewelry!  The space is really beautiful and I am very lucky and happy girl to have my work there.

Elk, California

18 miles south of Mendocino, Elk is a teeny-tiny town with some of the most beautiful coastline I've ever seen in person.  The weather was fantastic and the town was barely humming, despite being a three-day weekend.

Time to Coast

Been super-crazy-crazy and busy with the grand opening of my Etsy shop.  It was quite a feat to get it up and now I realize - there is still a ton, I mean, a TON more to do.  But that's the thing about doing your own thing - there's always more to be done.  I'm happy with what I've done.  But I want more.  More is needed.  Argh!

But I think a little break is deserved.  Time to coast. .. . .

It's HOT in San Francisco?

It really is hot, in San Francisco.  The news is reporting a temperature of 102.  In San Francisco.  Really?  After endless days of fog and heater-necessitating coldness?
